Laurent Perazza is a self-taught painter, born in 1993 in Poissy. He now lives and works in the Vendée, on France's Atlantic coast.
His work revolves around Drippy, a yellow, cubic, dripping character of his own invention who has become the central figure of his world. Drippy embodies the fragility of the human being in a harsh society, while standing for a form of poetic resistance and awakening.
“In a world that demands we be straight, smooth and fast, I let the soul spill onto the canvas. Drippy, my melting cubic character, embodies a humanity that overflows, resists, and still dares to dream.”
Through a painterly style he has named Splashism, he brings together pop art, expressionism, gestural painting and dripping to create powerful, emotionally charged works. Each painting sets Drippy in a dreamlike or symbolic scene, sometimes drawn from myth, inner landscapes or historical figures, always seen through a contemporary eye.
His ambition: to make Drippy a strong, universal visual icon, and to build a coherent, recognisable and meaningful artistic universe. His work speaks to contemporary art collectors, to lovers of singular characters, and to anyone drawn to paintings that tell a story.
